Elections on March 11th

 

 Express Your Democratic Right To Vote

All members of OPSEU Local 270 are invited to our Membership Meeting on Thursday, March 11th, starting at 4:30 pm, in the Niagara Room, 2nd Floor, MTO Building, 301 St. Paul Street, St. Catharines.  Food, refreshments and door prizes will be available.

The purpose of our meeting is to elect your Local 270 Executive (i.e. President, Vice-Presidents, Treasurer, and Secretary), and to elect members to OPSEU’s annual Convention in Toronto. Also, our Local Budget will be presented and we plan to discuss By-law Amendments.

Democracy is best served when as many people as possible vote.  Therefore, please join us on March 11th.

Elect a Steward for your Workplace

Your Union works best when there is a Steward in every workplace.  A Steward understands the unique issues of that workplace, so they are best qualified torepresent those members.  A “Shop” Steward represents an office of about 25 people.  A Unit Steward assists all the Shop Stewards in a Branch, or a workplace outside the St. Catharines MTO Building.  

As we want a Steward for every workplace, we are asking members to consider volunteering to be Stewards. If you are interested, please complete the Steward nomination form (click here for form). Please send his form to Dan McKnight, President Local 270, 2nd Floor, St. Catharines MTO, 301 St. Paul Street, by noon on March 8th.    

Did You Know?

Your Local Executive are elected to a two year term. They are all volunteers. OPSEU’s annual Convention is the supreme decision making body of OPSEU.
