December 4, 2007 - Festive Season Get-Together
Start off the Holiday Season with a luncheon get-together with your fellow MTO and MGS
staff in Local 270. Yes, it is that season again, and this year we've found an even
bigger place for our party. Our Festive Lunch will be held on Tuesday December 4th,
starting at noon, at the United Church Auditorium - Side Door, at 366 St Paul Street
(just east of our MTO building in downtown St Catharines).

June 11, 2007 - 16 New Jobs Thanks to Local 270
The employer has signed an agreement with OPSEU to settle our policy grievance about outside temporary agency staff
doing Information Technology (IT) work here in St Catharines. As a result, the Ministry of Government Services
will create 16 new IT positions in the St Catharines MTO building. These will be permanent positions with
the appropriate pay, benefits, and pensions. These new jobs will benefit our members, the public, and the community.

November 4, 2006 - Local 270 Wins OPSEU Newsletter Awards
At the November 4th Editors Award Banquet in Toronto, Local 270 won the following awards:
Best Local Website
Best Illustration (Map of Local 270 Workplaces)
This is the fourth year in a row in which Local 270 has won the Best Local Website award.

February 7, 2006 - Members Elect Local 270 Officers for 2006-08
At our February 7th Membership Meeting, the followiing Local 270 Officers were elected for
a two year term:
Dan McKnight - President
Mike Peshko - 1st Vice President
Dave Millington - 2nd Vice President
Serge Valcourt - 3rd Vice President
Avril Saul - Treasurer
Rona Merritt - Secretary
